  1. Sequences Describe the pattern in the sequence and identify the sequence as arithmetic, geometric, or neither. 7, 11, 15, 19, … 7, 11, 15, 19, … Answer:Each term is found by adding4 to the previous term. This sequence is arithmetic.

  2. Sequences Describe the pattern in the sequence and identify the sequence as arithmetic, geometric, or neither. 3, 6, 12, 24, … 3, 6, 12, 24, … Answer:Each term is found by multiplyingthe previous term by 2. This sequence is geometric.

  3. Sequences Example 7-1b Describe the pattern in the sequence and identify the sequence as arithmetic, geometric, or neither. 5, 9, 18, 22, 31, … Answer: Add 4, add 9; neither.

  4. Sequences 5, 14, 23, 32, … Each term is 9 greater than the previous term. Continue the pattern to find the next three terms. Answer: The next three terms are 41, 50, and 59.

  5. Sequences 9,331.2 Write the next three terms of the sequence. 0.2, 1.2, 7.2, 43.2, … 0.2, 1.2, 7.2, 43.2, Each term is 6 times the previous term. Continue the pattern to find the next three terms. Answer: The next three terms are 259.2, 1,555.2, and 9,331.2.
