  2. TEAKS • §128.11. Spanish Language Arts and Reading, Kindergarten, Beginning with School Year 2009-2010. • (b)  Knowledge and skills. • (1)  Reading/Beginning Reading Skills/Print Awareness. Students understand how Spanish is written and printed. Students are expected to: • (A)  recognize that spoken words can be represented by print for communication; • (B)  identify upper- and lower-case letters; • (C)  demonstrate the one-to-one correspondence between a spoken word and a printed word in text; • (D)  recognize the difference between a letter and a printed word; • (E)  recognize that sentences are comprised of words separated by spaces and demonstrate the awareness of word boundaries (e.g., through kinesthetic or tactile actions such as clapping and jumping); • (F)  hold a book right side up, turn its pages correctly, and know that reading moves from top to bottom and left to right; and • (G)  identify different parts of a book (e.g., front and back covers, title page).

  3. Bloom’s Taxonomy and Objectives • Students will be able to recognize numbering system from 0-10. Bloom’s Analysis • Students will compare  and contrast the English numbers to the new Spanish numbers. Bloom's-  Comprehension • Students will create a book with the Spanish number 0-10. Bloom's- Synthesis • Grade level k-1st

  4. Materials • Poster board • Markers • Construction Paper • Crayons • boom box

  5. Sequence of Lesson Plan • The teacher will be in the front of the classroom with the students around her. • The teacher will begin by showing the first poster with the number on it. Underneath the English word zero there will also be the Spanish word for zero. Example: Zero-Cero  • The teacher will say the word Cero sounding each syllable out. • The students will then repeat after the teacher. • The teacher will do this procedure for each number 0-10.

  6. Group Work • After all ten numbers have been taught, the teacher will assign each student a number 0-10 • That student will be responsible for making a page for the Spanish book of numbers.  • After the students are finished, the teacher will collect the papers. • Then teacher will play a song with the repetition of number in Spanish and English and have the students sing • Adaptations The special needs children will be accommodated for according to their need.

  7. Evaluation • The teacher will have the students compare and contrast between the two languages.  Example: Comparison-Zero-Cero Contrast-Five-Cinco • The teacher will inform the students that she will put the pages of the book together and they can go over the numbers in class the next day. • The teacher will grade the students according to participation.  Students will also be expected to make a page in the Spanish Counting Book.
