Constructivism and Distance Education • Included in this paper information to show that education is in the midst of a classic shift from an information processing explanation of learning to a constructivist approach to learning • This paper will discuss how Jonassen, D., Davidson, M., Collins, M., Campbell, J., & Haag, B apply the principles of Constructivism to technology and describe Constructivism’s place in distance education. • The applications which help conduct distance learning include computer-mediated communication, computer-supported collaborative work, case-based learning environments, and computer-based cognitive tools.
