  3. Temperature • The degree of heat of an object or organism • Tool: thermometer • Unit of measurement: Fahrenheit, Celsius, Kelvin

  4. Converting temperature • Celsius = (Fahrenheit – 32) x 5/9 • Convert 212 degrees Fahrenheit to Celsius • Fahrenheit = (9/5 x Celsius) + 32 • Convert 0 degrees Celsius to Fahrenheit

  7. Is it normal? • Normal body temperature is 98.6 degrees Fahrenheit. Convert this to Celsius. • Causes of fever include infections, drugs/medications, and hormone conditions

  8. Let’s Practice! • Fill a beaker with water and take the temperature of the water. Convert to Fahrenheit. • Add ice or warm water and take the termperature. Convert to Fahrenheit. • Follow the procedure for taking a temperature using an oral thermometer. Convert to Celsius.
