  1. An Introduction to CCN Saving the World’s Forests Part 1 of 2

  2. The BIG Problems • Climate change • Rainforest logging and land degradation • CO2 and greenhouse gases in the atmosphere • Excessive water and energy consumption • Waste generation and low levels of recycling • Exponential growth in human population • Unsustainable growth in resource consumption

  3. Millions of Hectares Destroyed Everyday Just Google deforestation and you will be shocked. Let us show you how you can get paid to save the forests...

  4. Why are forests so important? • They store water, regulate rainfall and provide a home to well over half of the planet’s biodiversity • They contan millions of biologically-active compounds of unquantifiable benefit to life on earth • They provide vital ecosystem services for the whole world • They have been described as the lungs of the Earth. • Billionsof dollars a year are now being pledged to help developing countries stop rainforest destruction, acquire clean energy and adapt to climate shift.

  5. Who is CCN? Carbon Central Network is an Australian company with headquarters in Adelaide, South Australia. CCN was established by Campbell Scott and Erminio Kotlar to find a way to help incentivise people all around the world to take action to preserve the world’s most essential utility - our Rain Forests and Woodlands. Campbell Scott CCNlaunched in January 2011 and already operates in more than 120 countries including Australia, Slovenia, Slovakia, Italy, Czech Republic and Colombia... Erminio Kotlar

  6. What does CCN do? • CCN secures large areas of virgin rainforest and woodlands, to then work with local indigenous peoples, land owners and governments to help protect the forests by applying the company’s unique Conservation Hectares system. • CCN manages funds throughout the world by securing both large and small forest areas via accredited and approved ꞌGreen projectsꞌ • CCN focuses on the health and well being of people, the diversity of animal and plant life and also the quality of the soil, water and air. • CCN enables members to participate in the protection of extensive areas of forest and earn incomeat the same time, which ensures the sustainability of these vital green projects

  7. CCN Prepaid Use our card to save the world’s forests! 8. Who partners with

  9. LEMCO Team Dr. Ivan Guevara – MD LEMCO Dr. Ivan Guevara is the Founder and Managing Director of Land Economics Management Consultants and LEMCO Investments Limited. He is both a UK and Colombian citizen. A qualified lawyer, Dr. Guevara has a solid academic background with six degrees, including Attorney at Law, Financial Law and International Business Legal Studies. Angélica Beltrán - BA, MA, Ing Angelica is a qualified Forestry Engineer from Universidad Distrital Francisco Jose de Caldas of Bogotá with relevant expertise in conducting and structuring forestry management plans, training processes and holistic management of natural resources Rachael Hannay - BA, MA Rachael is a social anthropologist specializing in community-based natural resource management and holds a Master degree in Sustainable Development and Emergency Practice from Oxford Brookes University and has a bachelor’s degree in Social Anthropology from the University of Kent.

  10. Andrés Huby - BA, MA Andrés is an expert in international finance, corporate finance and more specifically carbon finance models applicable to forestry and terrestrial carbon. Originally from Perú where he obtained a BA in Economics, he holds a Master Degree in International Economics from the prestigious John Hopkins’ School of Advanced International Studies in Washington D.C. María Adelaida Fernández Muñoz - BA, MA María has a keen interest in ecosystems and forest ecology. She obtained her first degree in Biology and her second degree in Economics at the Los Andes University of Bogotá. She also has two masters degrees: “Environmental and Natural Resource Economics” (Colombia) and “Economic, Social and Territorial Development” (France). Iván Alfonso Velásquez Rueda – BA Iván is the Field Projects Coordinator for LEMCO and is a qualified Forestry Engineer from Universidad Distrital Francisco Jose de Caldas of Bogotá. He has expertise in developing and implementing programs and research projects of conservation and sustainable use of renewable natural resources, specifically, rainforests.

  11. Universidad Distrital, Bogotá Universidad Distrital - Francisco José de Caldas Strategic partner in the generation of scientific information. Access to high quality professionals that support the information analysis for our forestry projects. Cooperation Agreement duly signed.

  12. Tierra Una Service Agreement Tierra Una is a scientific NGO that specialises in projects of social transformation and community development. Tierra Una has signed an Agreement with LEMCO to be responsible for CCBA data collection and field work with the communities.

  13. CCN is targeting all the world’s forests for conservation projects • Australia • Asia • Africa • America

  14. CCN Projects 2012 • Philippines • Papua New Guinea – 175,500 Ha • Australia –1.4 million Ha • Colombia – 4 million Ha • Brazil – 1 million Ha

  15. Philippines Mangrove Conservation Projects Mangrove forests are hot spots for biodiversity, they provide valuable ecosystem functions and have a large carbon sink capacity. Pre-feasibility assessment is being conducted to establish eligibility of a reforestation project in Butuán (north Mindanao). Preliminary evaluation is being conducted to assess eligibility of a forestry carbon project in Mindanao.

  16. PhilippinesAgusan Marsh Peatlands Agusan Marsh is located in the North East of Mindanao. Peatlands are wetland ecosystems where the production of organic matter exceeds its decomposition and net accumulation results. Peatland cover only 3% of global land area but stores 30% of global soil carbon. An MOU has been signed for 4,200 hectares of natural peatlands.

  17. Papua New Guinea’s Agitana Forest Land Conservation Project • CCN are working with the Gavari Land Group Inc. a near 60 member group of land owners. • CCN will create an additional 1,180 full time employment positions as a result of the project implementations. • 87% of this land mass is covered in dense native virgin hardwood forest, which equates to 175,572 hectares or 1,755 square kilometres of net Forest Area. • Preliminary evaluations are being conducted for forestry carbon and land conservation projects on a piece of land that is under management agreement with local land-owner groups.

  18. Australia’s Rainforestand Woodlands Opportunities for increased sustainability of land-use, climate change resiliency and carbon farming through: Planting trees on farmland Protecting existing parcels of forest Quantities of sequestered carbon will be evaluated and units of land will be made available for sponsorship programs for land conservation and carbon offsets. 19. 8 Australian Land Conservation Projects Land conservation projects including, reforestation, afforestation and sustainable plantations. Land under management agreements duly formalised.

  20. Colombia’s Choco Province Loses over 200,000 ha of forest a year, for soy, corn and Palm Oil plantations. Partnership with LEMCO for the creation of investment opportunities in Forest Conservation projects. Currently 1.2 million ha under protection. Manageable projects of approximately 400,000 ha each. There are 16 communities in the area of the project, 14 of them are Indigenous and 2 Afro-descendant with around 21,000 people.

  21. Peru Castana Concessions REDD Project LEMCO has entered into an agreement with project developers in Peru to provide additional project management and financial support in the Peruvian province of Madre de Dios. • This area is considered to be Peru’s richest in biodiversity. • Vulnerable area to deforestation. • The project comprises approximately 291,000 hectares. • It is under the Verified Carbon Standard (VCS) program. • The first half a million of ex ante credits (PIUs) have already been registered under LEMCO’s name. www.markit.com

  22. Trends & Timing?

  23. Predictions World Bank and the IMF project the size of the carbon economy to reach over $2,000 billion per annum by 2020, the quantity of carbon credits required is going to increase at a massive rate, compounding each year. "The carbon economy is the fastest growing industry globally with US$84 billion of carbon trading conducted in 2007, doubling to $116 billion in 2008, and expected to reach over $200 billion by 2012 and over $2,000 billion by 2020" (World Bank Carbon Finance Report ). Trends & Timing?
