  2. What Is A Discharge Cancellation? • Member was terminated. • Member is being reinstated after going through Civil Service hearing.

  3. Effect On LACERA Benefits • Missing data between termination date and reinstatement date. • Salary Data. • Service Credit and Contributions. • Retirement account must be reconstructed to appear as if member never terminated service.

  4. Documents Required • Settlement agreement / Final Commission Action • Reinstatement Date. • Suspension Dates, if any. • Salary Rates and Back Pay • Salary rate schedule. • Itemized listing of back pay.

  5. Workflow • Member’s Dept  Auditor-Controller  LACERA • Auditor-Controller is responsible for disbursing Back Pay, but LACERA must calculate Back Contributions to be deducted before Back Pay can be disbursed.
