WMS: Let’s ROAR to Success! Walkersville Middle School
Warm-up: Take out a half sheet of paper! On it, write answers to the following questions. • What do the letters in ROAR stand for? • What is PBIS? • How can you receive pawllars at school?
Now create a Graffiti Wall! • Turn the chalkboard/white board into a graffiti wall ABOUT WAYS TO ROAR TO SUCCESS. • This could include images or words (school appropriate of course!) • What do you know about “roaring” to success? • What does this look likein the classroom? • What does this look like in the hallway? • What does this look like on the bus? • Go up in groups of 4 students at a time…you have 2 minutes for each group!
Discussion Time: • What ended up on your class’s graffiti wall? • How does it compare to what you see at school? • Does your wall include things that you could improve upon? • What’s the difference between ROAR-ing to success and simply doing what is required?
PBIS is….. • PBIS Stands for: Positive Behavior Intervention and Support • This organization is what recognizes YOU for appropriate behavior, good grades, and great attendance! • Examples: Pawllars, Unity Days, End of the Year Raffle, etc.
ROAR IS….. • ROAR Stands for: RESPECT ORGANIZE ACHIEVE RESPONSIBLE DISCUSS AGAIN: • What does it mean to do these things in the classroom? • On the bus? • In the hallway?
