Letter from Tinkerbell Year 2 Lesson 8 Term 4 Reduce, Reuse, Recycle
Letter from Tinkerbell Hello friends in Year 2! My name is Tinkerbell, and I have been visiting Tangalooma on Moreton Island since I was very young with my mother Beauty.
Meeting New Friends Since that time, I have had calves of my own, and brought them to the island to meet lots of new friends like you who want to say hello.
Caring for Creatures in Moreton Bay Caring for the Creatures of Moreton Bay My new friends want to care for us, and the best way they can do this is to ensure the seas of Moreton Bay are clean and safe for me and my friends.
What Makes the Sea Unsafe? The main threat to sea creatures in Moreton Bay is rubbish. Plastic rubbish washes into the bay and it looks like food and makes us sick when we eat it.
How You Can Help • Say no to plastic shopping bags • Reuse plastic containers before you recycle them • Pack you lunch in a box – avoid plastic wraps • Don’t buy bottled water – use a washable container
What Else Can You Do? • Spread the word. The more people who know about the danger of plastics to creatures in the sea, the less polluted our bay will be. • Tell your friends to REDUCE REUSE RECYCLE • Join Tangalooma Eco Marines Thanks Everyone! Love from Tinkerbell xxx
