What qualities do the top universities seek? • Academic ExcellenceHigh results, in individual modules, for examinations taken prior to entry eg: marks provided, at entry, for each paper sat at AS Level Top predicted grades at A Level • Passion for Academic Subject Demonstration of reading about the subject to be studied More interest than just what is taught at School Ability to confidently talk about the subject

What qualities do the top universities seek? • Ability to LearnWillingness to learn, interest in Research, learning potential • Other areas of Assessment STEP examination University Entrance Examinations AEA – Advanced Extension Award BMAT, UKCAT - Medicine, LNAT – Law • Other outside interests • An interesting person, with other interests besides study/academia

What must your child do? • Understand the Entry Requirements Entry Requirements vary, depending on University and Course Research – using websites • Ensure top results in every module taken A stream of top marks looks better, than having to retake modules to improve marks • Read around the subject • Find a specific subject with course of study, and investigate. • Talk to family, friends, teachers about the subject

  9. What must your child do? • Get involved at school – pursue interests Music Sports • Areas of Responsibility – prefects Clubs • Helping others • Where possible – visit the University, to ask questions
