EMEA customer implementation : CVI Slovenia The Republic of Slovenia lies at the heart of Europe where the Alps and the Mediterranean meet the Pannonian plains and the mysterious Karst. Slovenia has a population of 2 million and its capital city is Ljubljana. The official language is Slovene, one of the South Slavonic languages. EMEA customer implementation : CVI Slovenia • Slovenian government experience ? • CVI is involved with IBM and ORACLE for more then 15 years. • CVI went through similar changes as IBM and ORACLE, and responding to the needs of CVI users is a really demanding and challenging objective. • Despite the reality, that CVI is the only installation of such an architecture (IBM S/390, z/900, Oracle, z/OS, z/VM, LINUX) in the region, IBM and ORACLE support is adequate. • We are looking forward for continuous cooperation between us. • Dusan.Salehar@gov.si

IFS Certification for Linux on zSeries • IFS is a package of ERP/CRM applications based on Oracle. They were interested in the consolidation capabilities of zSeries for their customers • First benchmark tests showed a limitation in number of users connected, due to 31bits architecture. A workaround was found by using a 31 bit Oracle under a 64 bits Linux • Tested in LPAR mode and with zVM guests, in standalone server and in a 2 instances RAC cluster • Response times in accordance with IFS baseline cross platform. Excellent vertical scalability. Excellent stability under heavy workload • Early tests for Oracle 9i on 64bits Linux. Allowed to fix some problems in Oracle installer, as well as a Bug in 31bit compatibility under 64bits architecture • IFS certified on zSeries, and Oracle 9i certified on SLES 8 64 bits
