SURVIVORSHIP • A copy of the death certificate must always be attached to the application for title • If you are presented an out of state title to transfer to NH you must collect the title fee • How to process when the title is lost
EXAMINATION OF DOCUMENTS • Review the front of the title for the following: 1. How many owners are listed on the title? 2. Is there a lienholder on the title? 3. Assignment must match title application. • Review the back of the title for the following: 1. Is the assignment completed correctly? 2. Is there a lienholder listed? • Printing of the CTA 1. Is the CTA legible? 2. Owners must verify address. 3. Owner (s) must sign the application.
LIENHOLDERS • Look carefully at the last assignment to your resident. Is there a lienholder listed anywhere • Make a procedure to always ask the resident if they have a lien • NH law requires all liens to be perfected on a title application • Missing lienholders can result in a board of claims being filed against the State
SALVAGE-REBUILT VEHICLES • Titles branded salvage must have a salvage inspection • Titles branded rebuilt, reconstructed are not required to have the salvage inspection • Any title assigned to an insurance company must have a salvage inspection • We do not accept Maine’s Affidavit of Rebuilt or repaired salvage vehicle form MVT-103 • On an unrepaired vehicle a double assignment is allowed
VIEW TITLE SCREEN • Search a title record by any one of the following: • Title number • CTA number • VIN • Last name and Date of Birth • Corporate name • NH ID Number
TITLE NUMBERS • Importance of Accuracy • NMVTIS • Cheat sheet to use for entering title numbers • Error messages • Incorrect entry of VIN
VARIOUS TITLE CODES • MR – Mail returned title sent back by Post Office • NCIC – Stolen vehicle call Concord • Abandoned vehicle – notice is on file • Mechanic Lien vehicle – notice is on file • WR – Court ordered writ of attachment • PC – Protested check • LHPAID – Letter from lienholder loan is paid • Pertinent information box – Insurance information on a salvage title
OUT OF STATE EXEMPT VEHICLE • Exempt vehicles from out-of-state that are required to be titled in NH • The following documents must be obtained to apply for a NH title: • The original or certified copy of the out-of state registration • TDMV 19A – Verification of VIN • Bill of sale if applicant is not on the registration presented
