Sport England Strategy 2008-2011 • Grow, Sustain, Excel • Sustain • More people satisfied with their sporting experience. • 25% fewer 16-18 year olds dropping out of at least 9 sports. • Rounders England WSP 2009-2013 • Grow • 13,780 more participants. • Sustain • Increase in baseline satisfaction score by 5. • Reduce the steep decline in 16-18 participation: introduction of a clear pathway for FE and HE sector. • Excel • No target.
Sport Satisfaction • More people satisfied with their sporting experience. • Satisfaction with the Quality of the Sporting Experience Survey 2009 (SQSE) • Key Findings for Rounders • Baseline Satisfaction Score: 77.1 • WSP Satisfaction Target: 82.1 • Domain Scores (satisfaction out of 10) • People & Staff: 8.0 • Ease of Participating: 7.8 • Facilities & Playing Area: 7.5 • Officials: 7.2 • Coaching: 6.8 • Rounders England have subsequently identified appropriate interventions to address the five strategic priority areas.
Rounders England WSP Interventions • Five delivery interventions identified to achieve the overall WSP objective: ‘to grow and sustain participation towards excellence’. • Grow and Sustain targets are very interlinked and addressed under the same five delivery interventions. • All five delivery interventions serve to address the five key drivers of satisfaction.
Interventions in Beds & Luton • More People Playing More Often: • Get Back Into Rounders Projects. • Rounders in the Park Tournaments / Festivals. • Healthy Campus Rounders (University of Beds). • PESSYP: • 3 Spring Term Indoor Rounders SU Projects. • 5 Summer Term Outdoor Rounders SU Projects. • 5 new STAR Centres in the county by 2011. • Competitions Structure: • Supporting SSPs to establish and develop competitions. • STAR Centre Challenge and new adult league by 2011. • More Coaches and Officials: • Fully funded UKCC L1 Course (Oct 2009). • UKCC L2 Course (Oct 2010). • Prelim and Inter Umpiring Courses. • C4T Courses (University of Bedfordshire). • Infrastructure Development: • Successful working partnerships and networks formed by RE across the county.
Reducing the 16-18 Drop-Off in Beds & Luton • Introduction of a clear pathway for Rounders in the FE and HE sector in Beds & Luton. • team BEDS&LUTON 16-19 Project: • Taster sessions run indoors during the winter at Dunstable College and John Bunyan Upper School. • 6-8 week Rounders Projects organised for Redborne, Sandy and Harlington Upper Schools during the 2010 summer term. • University of Bedfordshire: • Healthy Campus Initiative: Rounders taster sessions run for students and staff. • Strong partnerships with BUCS and SESSA: • Three new SESSA Tournaments for 2010. • Rounders England Further and Higher Education Development Package.
