MILITARY SERVICE There are tremendous pressures on those in the Armed Forces who protect our country. How they handle these pressures while in the military will most likely affect them for the rest of their lives.
RECENT HEADLINES Suicides are surging among US troops, Pentagon statistics show June 08, 2012/Associated Press Suicides are surging among America's troops, averaging nearly one a day this year -- the fastest pace in the nation's decade of war. The numbers reflect a military burdened with wartime demands from Iraq and Afghanistan that have taken a greater toll than foreseen a decade ago… The reasons for the increase are not fully understood.
THE NEED OF THE HOUR • 10,000 military personnel diagnosed with Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder • 38% higher divorce rate than others • 462 killed in action (2010) • 468 committed suicide (2010) “The number of suicides has reached epidemic proportions.” CH (MAJ GEN) Doug Carver The spiritual needs seem almost overwhelming. TO ACHIEVE THE MISSION OF REACHING RECRUITS AT BENNING AND ON THE HOME FRONT • As missionaries we depend 100% upon the consistent financial support of concerned individuals and churches for salary and expenses of running the field office. • We are seeking to build strategic partnerships with 7 to 12 anchor churches and scores of families and individuals. • We will report full time to the mission field as soon as this team is complete.
OUR COMMITMENT TO OUR MINISTRY PARTNERS • To work diligently to touch the lives of people for Jesus Christ. • To regularly report back on how God is blessing the ministry through blogs, Newsletters, dedicated Facebook page, and annual visits to the church. • To train mission squads for strategic mission projects to the field of service. • To facilitate Bridges to Healing Training for reaching thousands of veterans. • To pray for our ministry partners.
The Challenge: “Build me a son, O Lord, who will be strong enough to know when he is weak, and brave enough to face himself when he is afraid… unbending in honest defeat, and humble and gentle in victory.” Gen. Douglas Macarthur
The Privilege: 22 years I have been building sons. And now the time has come to show them how to build others in order that Christ might bring many sons to glory.
LET US BUILD TOGETHER “How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them? And how can they preach unless they are sent? As it is written, "How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!” Romans 10:14-15
