6. What Should I Bring to Class? • Notebook and folder for science only • Pencil or Pen • Green lab book • Calculator (recommended)

7. How Can I Be Successful in this Class? • Participate • Work hard and be persistent • Make mistakes! • Do your homework before the quiz/test • Ask questions – this class is all about giving you a better understanding of the world • Ask for help if you need it!

8. Rules Rules in this class exist for one of 3 reasons • Safety • Keep the class running – So that I can teach and every student can learn • So you can develop the professionalism, self-motivation and respect for others needed to be successful when you leave Irondale

A few of our rules • Always, always, always, always follow safety instructions • Cell phones and other electronic devices (including headphones) need to be out of sight and unused from bell to bell • You are responsible for getting make-up work. Check the make-up bin and the class website • Drinks – Water only. Sugary drinks make sticky messes when spilled and ruin things like lab notebooks!

10. Most of All… • Show respect for yourself by trying your best • Show respect for your classmates by allowing them to learn and doing your share in lab groups

11. What Can Physical Science Do For Me? The concepts in this class form the basis for things you will need to learn if you are interested in any of these careers: Engineer, scientist, steelworker, plumber, electrician, vehicle or equipment driver/operator, agriculture, entertainment/broadcasting, musician, music producer, mechanic, aviation, cooking, utilities work (gas, power, water), meteorology, medicine/health, nutrition, personal trainer, technician, manufacturing, geology, forestry, mining, military, police, firefighter, EMS, business or law related to any of the above, and many, many others!
