Eligibility dates: concept • Fish caught after the eligibility date but before the date of certification of the fishery may be eligible to bear the MSC ecolabel • Supply chain operators are allowed to use the ecolabel on products caught before the fishery is certified

Auditing Under-MSC-Assessment Fish • CB verifies • Eligibility of operator • Traceability and segregation system (supplier name & CoC code, date of capture …) • Fish caught after eligibility date • UMA fish is labelled with supplier name and date of capture • UMA fish is referred to on invoices • Products not labelled as UMA fish

When fishery becomes certified • Actual eligibility date is announced • UMA fish caught after actual eligibility date is automatically reclassified as MSC-certified fish • All companies in the supply chain can apply ecolabel to products caught after actual eligibility date • Newly certified fish appear on MSC website
Certificate • Company complies to all CoC requirements. • Certificate is issued with a Under-MSC-assessment schedule • COC certificate can be withdrawn if a critical nonconformance is found • Company and scope recorded on MSC database • Company appears on MSC website
