  1. Animo House“Courage”

  2. The definition of courage is the ability to accomplish something that frightens you

  3. How is the House System set up? • Students at OMS will be divided into three houses. • Each house will be similar to a fraternity, and the members of each house will work together as a family. • During the course of the school year, students will earn points for their house based on citizenship, behavior, academics, and getting “caught” doing anything well.

  4. You are in the Animo House • The Animo House consists of students from 6th, 7th, and 8th grade • We will be competing against students from the Veribus House and the Honoris House • Our house colors are burgundy and gold (or Garnet and Gold) • Our Mascot is a Courageous Lion

  5. Each grade level will work as a team to complete 4 tasks

  6. Each grade level will submit 3 choices that were voted on per task to the housemasters • The housemasters will then choose one per grade level • All grade levels will vote for their choice out of the three in an anonymous vote

  8. How do we earn Points for animo?

  9. Through Attendance • 100 points will be awarded to each house with perfect attendance for the week. Perfect attendance includes the teacher. • 20 points will be awarded to each house with perfect attendance for the day. This also includes the teacher. • Any teacher or student not associated with an extra-curricular activity but attending an extra-curricular activity will receive 10 points for his or her house. • Any parent attending a PTO meeting or belonging to the Parents of Chargers will be awarded 20 points per quarter for their child’s house. • Individual students will be awarded for perfect attendance and receive house bucks.

  10. How to Earn Points for behavior… • Students will be awarded points if they are CDSG (caught doing something good) by a teacher or administrator at any time. CDSG points may be awarded before, during, and after school as well as in a teacher’s individual class. • Students without any discipline steps whatsoever will receive house bucks at progress report time and report card time. Those same students will also earn 5 points for their houses.

  11. How to Earn Points for Academics… • Seminar groups with full participation will earn 20 points for their house. • Students CDSG academically will be awarded 5 points for his or her house. • Houses will be awarded 5 points for each student that makes Honor Roll or the Principal’s list.
