  3. HOUSE BILL 5 FOUNDATION CREDIT REQUIRMENTS The following are the Foundation courses = 22 credits

  4. HOUSE BILL 5 FOUNDATION HIGH SCHOOL GRADUATION PLAN The following Foundation course requirements need to be selected in the Freshman and Sophomore year in order to maximize potential in fulfilling Advanced Endorsement requirements

  6. Foundation with ENDORSEMENT = 26 credits Most KOHS students will graduate with more than 26 credits. A 4-year plan/7 period day allows for 28 credits to be earned. *Algebra 2 earns students the Distinguished Graduation Plan, thus allowing acceptance into the Texas TOP 10% Automatic University Admissions Program. English 1, 2, and 3 must be completed before English 4 may be taken.

  12. Multidisciplinary Elective Course Choices Allows a student to select courses from each Endorsement area and earn credits in a variety of Advanced courses sufficient to meet the Distinguished Level of Achievement (per TEA)

  13. Broadcasting(All Campuses) • New Career and Technical Education (CTE) Pathway • Pathway courses: Broadcasting I Broadcasting II Practicum in Broadcasting (2 courses)

  14. Accelerated College Pathways Enrollment • Students, with assistance of their parent or guardian, will complete the application posted on the Promise2Purpose.net website. Each pathway has specific prerequisites. • Applications will available during the course selection district timeline January 8th – February 15th. • Students meeting enrollment criteria will be entered into a ‘lottery’ selection process.

  15. Advanced Nursing Pathway • Klein High School • Entering freshman in 2019 • Allows students to pursue interest in nursing • Provides the opportunity to earn an Associate of Arts degree (AA) from Lone Star College – Tomball prior to high school graduation and be dual degreed with an Associate of Applied Sciences (AAS) after high school graduation • Provides the opportunity to earn industry credentials: • Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) Level 1 Certificate • Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) Level 2 Certificate (shortly after high school graduation) • Registered Nurse (RN) License – in four college semesters

Geospatial Systems Engineering & Land Surveying Pathway • Klein Collins High School • Entering freshman 2019 • Students must have completed Principles of Applied Engineering • Allows students to pursue interest in Geographical Information Systems (GIS) and Land Surveying • Provides a unique opportunity to gain up to a year of college credit while in high school • Provides hands-on experiences taught by industry professionals • Earn a Lone Star College Level 1 certificate in Land Surveying prior to high school graduation • Articulate to Texas A & M Corpus Christi with only three years remaining to earn a B. S. in Geospatial Systems Engineering

  17. Global Business Pathway • Klein Forest High School • Entering freshman in 2019 • Allows students to pursue interest in the business industry with a concentration in global industry • Provides an opportunity to potentially earn an Associate of arts degree (AA) from Lone Star College – Tomball prior to high school graduation • Students may earn the Microsoft Office Suite Specialist certification • Provides opportunities for increased rigor; a proven factor for college admissions

  18. HVAC and Refrigeration Pathway • Klein Cain High School • Entering freshman 2019 • Allows students to pursue interest in the HVAC and Refrigeration Technology • Provides a unique opportunity for the student to complete coursework in HVAC and Refrigeration Technology including job shadowing or industry internship • Provides opportunities for students to learn the skills needed for a current high demand occupation • Earn industry level certifications and the opportunity to enter the industry upon graduation or purse higher education training in HVAC

  19. Advanced Academics* • Pre-Advanced Placement (9th and 10th grade) • Advanced Placement (10th – 12th grade); AP Capstone diploma and certificate available • Dual Credit (11th – 12th grade); Lone Star College • International Baccalaureate Program • *extra grade points
