  2. 1.) Fertile Crescent- An area of land that stretches in a large arc from the Persian Gulf to the Mediterranean Sea 2.) Mesopotamia- The “Land between two rivers”. 3.) Tigris-Euphrates River Valley- Main source of water in Mesopotamian civilizations. 4.) City-State- A large civilization and its surrounding country side. 5.) Ziggurat- Pyramid Shaped temples.

  3. 6.) Sumerians- Early Mesopotamian civilization 7.) Cuneiform- Wedge- shaped writing system of the Sumerians 8.) Akkadians– First Empire in recorded history 9.) Sargon- Powerful leader of the Akkadians 10.) Empire- Group of territories or cultures controlled by one ruler
