Environmental Benefit through Phosphorus Trading • MCES discharges phosphorus below limits, giving us “credits” • Princeton needs to increase phosphorus discharge and must obtain additional 5000 lbs • MCES “loaning” Princeton credits, requiring permanent reduction in phosphorus entering the Lake Pepin system by 10,000 lbs annually, benefiting entire Lake Pepin system • Once permit issued, the agreement will be finalized (unless is legal challenge)
