  3. Why is it important to stand up to bullies? Bullying Add pictures associated with bullying here

  4. Write about your experiences of bullying at school on the post-it notes. Do not write anyone's name down. Then come and stick them on the board. Bullying at School Mind-Map bullying

  5. Stand up for a Year 7 being bullied? If the Year 11s were bullying them? Would you stand up for someone you do not particularly get on with? Would you?

  7. The Bullies: Myanmar was ruled by a military government from 1962 to 2011. Add pictures of the Burmese military etc.

  8. The Bullies: the country was controlled by a corrupt and paranoid group of generals. Add pictures of high ranking Burmese generals

  9. In 1988 people protested. 3,000 students were killed in one afternoon. Add pictures associated with the 1988 protest here

  10. In 2008 people protested again. This time the victims were monks. Add appropriate pictures associated with the protests here

  11. Aung San Suu Kyi and Politics 1990: In an election Aung San and the National League for Democracy (NLD) wins 80% of the vote. However, the military does not recognise the result. Watch Jim Carrey discuss his ‘Unsung Hero’

  12. Daw Aung San Suu Kyi The military call her a traitor because she married an Englishman. She has been under house arrest for 12 of the last 16 years. Her husband died of cancer in 2005. She could not see him before he died. She could not see her two sons. The Burmese would not allow them to enter Myanmar.

  13. Complete the card sort. Match up the cards about bullying with the cards about Aung San Suu Kyi and Burma.

  14. PlenaryWrite about someone you find inspirational. This could be a family member, friend or celebrity. Explain how their actions could be seen as similar to Aung San Suu Kyi’s. Although their lives may be very different, the person you choose could be brave, courageous or selfless. This means they will have similar characteristics to Aung San Suu Kyi.
