  4. What is BioBlitz? • BioBlitz is a comprehensive, “24- hour survey” that monitors local biodiversity in Lick Creek Park • First weekend in April Fri-Sat eve • On the College Station events calendar

  5. Lick Creek Park: “urban oasis” • Habitat fragment in city • Since1987= 515 acres • Home to both rare and familiar species: • Birders’ delight to discover • neotropical migrants, barred owls, swainson’s thrush… • Kids’ first chance to meet • deer, raccoon, coyote, bobcats, opossum, armadillo…

  7. BioBlitz 2010 Grand Tally • Over 436 people attended • Tallied over 388 species of plants, mammals, birds, herps, fish, and inverts • Over 100 volunteers • Huge Success!!
