Introduction • Great White sharks are one of natures most amazing animals • They are positioned to be at the top of the food chain in the ocean because of all of their great adaptations • Great White Sharks have the ability to sense prey from up to two kilometers away, they have amazing vision compared to most marine life, and they have the ability to regenerate teeth
Sensitivity • - A great White Shark has sensors on its sides called ampullae of Lorenzini. • These sensors can detect the electromagnetic field(pulse) of an organism from up to two kilometers away. • Sharks can also smell blood for a very long distance. • Using these two adaptations sharks usually hunt seals which seem to be the most popular thing on their menu
Vision • -They have very good vision because they have the most complex eyes in the ocean. Being that the Great White Shark has such good vision it can attack easily and stealthily on its prey that has very bad vision compared to the Great White Shark. • Great White Sharks are the only fish that can dilate their pupils Because of this they are able to control the amount of light that is let into their eyes this way, they can almost clearly distinguish the difference between prey and worthless things • Sharks have been known to mistake surfers for seals though.
Teeth • Great White Sharks have great teeth • They have rows full of razor sharp , serrated teeth • Their teeth also fall out after many attacks, however a Great White Shark has the ability to regenerate it’s teeth when they are lost
Conclusion -Great white sharks have many great adaptations that help it to be the amazing animal it is. - with its sensory organs, amazing vision, and regenerating teeth not many animals come close to this killing machine -These adaptations could be helpful to humans. For example the sensory organs could be copied into a device. This device could help the army detect enemies or even help search teams find missing people. Also the regenerating teeth gene of sharks could possibly be copied into a human gene for old people who wear dentures Great White Sharks are amazing animals The end
