Introduction to Aerospace Course Objectives • This is the cornerstone course for the Aerospace Minor at Montana State University. Students will use this course for aerospace applications of the minor. • Students should be able to calculate the performance of aerospace structures (lift, drag, propulsion, and dynamics) and be able to apply fundamental engineering mechanics and principles for the design and analysis of aerospace systems
Skills Inventory – Based on Pre-Requisites for the Course • Cannot currently calculate lift and drag (have not been exposed to the basics) • Can calculate and utilize lift, drag, and thrust • Statics • Dynamics • Can analyze systems, i.e. given a combination of things, can analyze them • Can assemble systems (integrate) • Can analyze arbitrary systems (synthesize)
