Final ProjectThe report will include these components: • Atitle that is both informational and evocative • An opening story or set of figures that quickly shows readers why your topic is important • Abrief overview of your topic, including a list of stakeholders and details on scale • A thorough description of your topic’s environmental problems • A description of various efforts to find solutions to your topic’s environmental problems • A description of what you think should be priority actions to address your topic’s environmental problems • A closing story that conveys what your topic would look like after concerted effort to improve its environmental sustainability • A bibliography
A title that is both informational and evocative How do you come up with a good title? • Your title should: • Grab the readers attention. • Give the reader some idea what your essay is about • You don’t have to write your title before you write your essay. • It’s perfectly fine (sometimes even better) to come up with your title after you have written your essay.
An opening story or set of figures that quickly shows readers why your topic is important How do you come up with an opening story? • Your opening story should: • Provide a story illustrating the problem your paper discusses. • The story should develop the reader’s interest in your paper. • Present the reader with the problem in a way that he/she can relate to.
A brief overview of your topic, including a list of stakeholders and details on scale • The overview of your topic should: • Give the reader background information about your issue. • Provide the reader with historical information about your issue. • Outline the problems associated with your issue. • environmental, economical, social and moral • Illustrate the scale of the problem to the reader. • Stakeholders • Stakeholders are people, groups and organizations that are invested in the issue that your paper discusses. • Stakeholders can be a part of the solution to the issue, part of the cause, or neutral parties.
Athorough description of your topic’s environmental problems • Make sure you clearly explain the environmental problems associated with your issue. • Discuss what stakeholders or people are effected by your issue. • Explain the problem as if it were to someone who had no idea about it or any of the related effects. • Remember to always cite your information and quotes. • Extra citations for information you found is better than having the reader be skeptical about the truthfulness of the information.
Description of various efforts to find solutions • What are other people doing about the problem • Organizations • Individuals • Actions • What possible solutions can you think of? • Why would this be a good idea? • How can we implement this idea?
A closing story….. to improve its environmental sustainability • Review, Restate, Revaluate • Review • Touch again on problem • Touch again on stakeholders • Restate • Restate possible solutions • Existing Solutions • Possible New Solutions • Revaluate • Why solutions work or don’t work • Why you’re solution is better
