Poaching -The word poaching is used in the article when Mr. Booth describes the criminals stealing or killing the stock on his farm. “Mr. Booth, who runs a vast cattle station at Wyandra, south of Charleville, now has eight cameras in trees and has used the snaps to prosecute three people for illegal poaching. `Poachers had been giving the whole area a fair hammering. They were cutting fences and using the place like it was their own,' Mr. Booth said. `Everyone knows that the cameras are there now so they stay away.”’ -Illegally hunt or catch (game or fish) on land that is not one's own or is under official protection -Poaching is used in other instances when criminals steal or kill protected animal life. For example, Poachers illegally hunt protected elephants for their tusks, and tigers for their fur.
