2. RAINMAKER FESTIVAL 2006
Ten bands will provide music on two stages, rain or shine, Sunday, September 10, at Legend Pub and Brewery, from approximately 1PM to 10PM.
Festival music represents traditional and contemporary Americana music genres, including bluegrass, country, rock-n-roll, rockabilly and other roots forms.
3. RAINMAKER FESTIVAL 2006 Now in its fourth year, The Rainmaker Festival is planned and operated by a committee of volunteers, who work collaboratively with a management team at Legend Brewery.
Additionally, festival beneficiaries and numerous other volunteers assist before, during and after the event.
4. A LITTLE ABOUT AL REYNOLDS
Father, husband, friend, and mandolin player Alvin Reynolds III passed away in April 2001, several years after receiving a liver transplant.
A Hanover area resident for most of his life, Al was known widely through the Richmond area bluegrass network as a knowledgeable and competent artist, as well as a devoted and charitable friend. He was good-humored, encouraging, and unhesitatingly supportive of playing benefits to support others in need. Musically, Al had an uncanny ability to balance tradition and originality.
The first Rainmaker Festival in 2001 was organized to honor Als memory and to provide his family with financial relief in the wake of his passing.
Alvins wife Mary Nelson and daughter Laura continue to be guests of honor at the festival, advising event organizers, and representing the Reynolds familys service-minded value system.
