Assignment • The purpose of this unit is to strengthen both your writing and research skills by means of a researched persuasive paper. You will select your own controversial topic and determine your opinion on it, then conduct research to support your opinion. Your finished product will be a researched paper in which you present your argument, utilizing your research for support.
Topic Ideas • Choose a topic that is something you are interested in and one that you can find enough information on with which to support your specific argument.
Picking a Topic • Which topic would be your first choice • Describe in three lines why this topic is important to you. • Describe in three lines what you already know about the topic

Burning Questions • Create 3-4 Burning questions about your topic • Use these questions to help you focus your research • Example: In what way did Roe v. Wade restrict abortions in the United States? • What was significant about Brown vs. Board and how did it change America?
