Sumitomo SDRK-415-D GM cooler (1.5 W at 4.2 K) can fit the bill. A pulse tube cooler from Cryomech is an alternative choice. Jim Rochford at RAL together with Holger at Oxford have been doing a lot of reiterative calculation on magnet forces at various operating scenarios and fault condition.However, the recent repositioning of the coils by Mike Green has resulted in significant reduction in the imbalanced forces. • A progress update: • Design & Engineering issues:- • Interface scope and responsibility • Interface control via a global reference system • Feasibility study of using Cryo-Coolers • Detail design & engineering for module connection • Magnet force estimate This reiterative calculation will continue until we are satisfied with the results
This is still being studied. PROPOSE • L-H2 test at FNAL/MTA with a spare MICE absorber. PROPOSE • Thermometers/LH2 level sensors and wiring/connecters are existing.

Summary The basic project infrastructure of the work packages within the AFC module is now in an advance stage. We still need further effort in the C&I area The use of Cryo-Cooler is looking promising and further effort is needed to make sure that Safety of the system is not compromised. The module connection together with the module supports are undergoing a revision and we should firm up the idea shortly so that we can get on with the detail enginering. The R&D work is progressing, albeit a little slower than planned. Interface with the detector module supplier is progressing and further effort is needed to bring this to a reasonable stage where detail engineering work can start.
