2. Region has been undergoing a major transformation the past 6 years as a result of 2005 Base Realignment and Closure (BRAC) Fort Knox has transformed from a training facility and home of Armor and Cavalry to the Human Resource Center of Excellence
3. Fort Knox is now home to the Headquarters of the Army’s Human Resource Command Over 4, 000 new employees will work in the Human Resource Center of Excellence bldg. The largest office building in the state of Kentucky – 878,000 s.f.

5. What did we do to prepare for change? Road Shows 2006 and 2008 travel to “BRAC(ed)” communities 2 ½ weeks on the road each time Infrastructure Improvements $251 million from state of KY Regional Tours 13 in 24 months – Hosting DOD Civilians and Military

8. Regional Tours 3-day events traveling thru 2-4 counties Hosted by Realtors, Homebuilders, Financial Institutions, Municipalities, Educational Institutions, Various Businesses Quality of Life – Intro to the region
9. RESULTS Projected population increase of 14,000 new residents Increased school population K-12 and Post-secondary institutions Increased price/valuation of residential and commercial real estate – more new businesses

11. March 2011 Chambers of Commerce in West Point, Vine Grove, Radcliff and Elizabethtown merge to form one of the largest Chambers in Kentucky
12. October 2011 – Cities of Elizabethtown, Radcliff and Vine Grove vote “WET” (Anecdotal evidence of younger/new voters at the polls)
