  2. PRINCIPLES OFSCIENTIFIC MANAGEMENT • Scientific Management is one of the earlier classical school ofmanagement thought. • Propounded by F WTaylor. • Scientific management refers to the application of science tomanagement.

  3. Definition “Scientific management means knowing exactly what you want men to do and seeing that they do it in the best and the cheapestway.”

Principles of ScientificManagement • Science not Rule ofThumb: • Scientific investigation should be used for taking managerial decision rather than basing decision on opinion or rule ofthumb. • Harmony, NotDiscord: • Under factory system manager serve as link between owner andworkers. • Exist a possibility of class conflictbetween • managers andworkers. • Taylor emphasised complete harmony between management and worker.
