Collaborative Research Agreements – Canada Technology Transfer • In 2005-2006 NRC signed 393 new collaborative agreements with Canadian partners. Total value of $78M. • Currently, NRC has 941 active collaborations with a total lifetime value of ~$400M • These collaborations involved ~700 partners from private, public and university sectors
Creating Spin-off Companies with NRC Technologies • 67 companies have been created since 1995 • Over 500 individuals now work in NRC spin-offs • NRC spin-offs have attracted more than $400 million in venture capital investments • Only 6 companies have ceased operations

INMS - Institute for National Measurement Standards Overall Mission …R&D and maintenance of primary standards and calibration facilities. The rich resource of expertise benefits the Canadian economy and the quality of life for Canadians through technological commercialization, advances in health management practices, and safeguards for the environment.
INMS - Institute for National Measurement Standards Innovative Design requires novel measurement - New measurement technologies for potential commercialization are developed and disseminated through licensing and spin-off companies. Mass Producing Innovative Design Requires Measurement Reproduceability - Precision calibration and measurement services for equipment used in the manufacturing process ensures quality, compatibility of co-manufactured component parts and conformity with performance specification and regulation standards. Exporting Innovative Design Requires International Acceptance of Measurement - Participation in international measurement comparisons and committee work to protect Canada's trade interests and to maintain NRC-INMS' position as a world class national metrology institute.
