2012 Fine Art 1. Sense of Place
Question 1: Sense of Place Many artists create work inspired by their feelings for particular places. The Camden Town Group recorded everyday scenes of urban life. Photographers John Davies and Raymond Moore responded to the starkness of both urban and industrial landscapes. Chris Drury and Andy Goldsworthy work with materials found in the natural environment. Research appropriate sources and produce your own response to one of the following: • Urban landscape • Industrial landscape • Natural environment

Who is this good for • Those who like photography and would enjoy collecting a series of images before using paint/drawing • Those who enjoy drawing and painting buildings • Those who have a particular ‘favourite place’ that they want to focus on
What do you do next • Select which option you are doing. • Look at the suggested artists but also at other artists who focus on your chosen area • Research your artist/s and make a pastiche of a piece of their work you like • Analyse the artist’s work and the piece you have copied.
