On your graphic organizer, find the circle on the left. Write the word standard.
Standard form is what most people use to write the amount of something. For example, if I am writing my address, I would write 55 and not fifty-five.
Under standard on your organizer, write:*most common way*just uses digits*4,592
Next is expanded form. Find the top circle on your organizer and write expanded.
Expanded form shows the WHOLE value of a number, but it’s not commonly used for every day number writing. (You could say you are stretching the number out.)436=400 + 30 + 6
Under expanded form on your oraganizer, write:*stretching a number to its whole value*378=300+70+8
