WEB DATABASES • Available data • annual statistical indicators • results of agricultural census • results of population census • short-term statistical indicators • From October of 2004 are available to all users free of charge • In development process • database on regional statistics • database on short-term foreign trade statistics Country presentation / Marketing Conference in Helsinki

REVISED PUBLICATION STRATEGY • The number of monthly and quarterly publications reduced: • only 2 remaining • data are (will be) available in public databases • Free of charge publications introduced: • statistikas aktualitates (statistical news) • send to subscribers, available in information centres. • The proposal for changes was discussed with key users: • business associations representing different economic branches Country presentation / Marketing Conference in Helsinki

REGIONAL INFORMATION CENTRES • As part of regional reorganization the district statistical offices were reorganized into information centres: • to help data users • to support interviewers service • First regional information centre was established in January 2003 in Valka; • Currently regional information centres are operating in all districts of Latvia; Country presentation / Marketing Conference in Helsinki

SERVICES PROVIDED BY THE REGIONAL INFORMATION CENTRES • to familiarise with, purchase and subscribe to CSB publications; • consultations on the issues of how to obtain information; • possible to use CSB web databases; • receive consultations on methodological issues. EVALUATION OF ACTIVITY • Regional Information Centres submit monthly reports on: • the customers attended and information requested; • the publications in the local press; • subscriptions to CSB publications; • orders that can not be fulfilled. MOST INTERESTING ACTIVITIES OF INFORMATION CENTRES • Informative seminar for teachers of geography; • Quiz in regional newspaper about knowledge of statistics: • simple questions; • how many nationalities are living in our district… • Support of survey organizational process including promotion activities: • articles about EU-SILC survey; • article was prepared in Central office as: • press release; • interview with officer of information centre.   10. ESDS ACTIVITIES • Web page – guide page; • Answers to user requests; • Lot of planned but delayedactions, the funding has not been received; Country presentation / Marketing Conference in Helsinki

PLANNED FUTURE ACTIVITIES • Organizing of PC-AXIS reference group meeting • Redesign of web page: • outsourcing • Regional information centres: • evaluation of activity; • possible closure of some of them • Improvement of client database.
