Hybrid Bit-stream Models (Sep 2007 Ottawa)
Basic Ideas • Using information extracted from bit-stream data, it may be possible to develop better perceptual models in term of speed and accuracy. • Many difficult problems (registration, transmission error) can be efficiently addressed.
Advantages • All transmission errors can be accurately identified along with their effects. • Registration is not a problem. • Fast and efficient.
Presentations • NTT (3) • Telchemy
Models • Hybrid (PVS+bit stream info /FR/RR) • PNAMS
Inputs to the model • Text file (Hybrid) • Tekronix products(maybe), NTT(?) • Raw bit stream data (Bitstream/Hybrid) • Codecs: H.264, MPEG2 • Bit stream data format: • Procedure to address unrecognizable bit-stream data by some proponents:
Summary of Decisions 2007/9/13
Inputs to the model • Text file (Hybrid) • Raw bit stream data (Bitstream/Hybrid)
Scope • Two formats • QVGA/VGA • SD/HD
Codecs & transport systems • Codecs: H.264, MPEG2, MPEG4-Part2, VC1(?) • Transport systems • H.264-RTP • H.264-MPEG2TS • MPEG2-TS (MPEG2 or H.264) • VC1-RTP (?) • MPEG4 multiplexing • Note: We need programs which produce and analyze bit-streams.
Subjective Test • ACR w/ HRR (tentatively) for both QVGA/VGA and SD/HD • ILG does as little as possible, only what is necessary to ensure fairness for all proponents
Test Conditions • Test condition and source pool. • The test conditions and source pool of MM will be used whenever it is possible.
Model Types • Model types • Hybrid models (FR/RR/NR) • bitstream (PNAMS)
