A poor dissertation • Is too wide or narrow in scope • Poorly defined aims and objectives • The methods are not appropriate to the aims and research topic • Has a poor appraisal of the existing relevant knowledge base/literature • Study methods are not suitable to the aims and not clearly described • The writing style and presentation methods are not scientific and critical • The conclusions do not reflect the research findings and do not reflect the initial aims • The work is poorly presented, not in an appropriate style, does not meet the present guidelines and is poorly referenced.
