What is REC? • Regional Environmental Center for Central and Eastern Europe • Founded in 1990 by EC, USA & Hungary • International, not-for-profit organisation • Charter signed by 28 Countries and EC • Beneficiaries: 15 CEE Countries > Expansion to 18 (Turkey, Cyprus & Malta) • 170 staff, 25 nationalities • Head office in Szentendre, 15 country offices
REC: Mission “to promote regional cooperation and public participation in all environmental issues, thereby assisting the countries of Central and Eastern Europe in their transition to democratic civil societies”
