It all started when... The Vietnam War began on November 1st, 1955. It was a war that fought in Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos. It ended with the Fall of Saigon on April 30th, 1975. The Vietnam War all started when the American's were very nervous about the Domino Theory coming true where the communists will take over the world and they wanted to fight and abolish communism, so they got involved. The French were ruling Vietnam and they were very harsh on the people of Vietnam. The Vietnamese were very poor and did not have enough food to eat. The Japanese and French shared control over Vietnam for their own selfish reasons. Timeline: 1858-1884: France invades Vietnam and makes Vietnam a colony. Autumn 1964: US turns down an offer of secret peace talks with North Vietnam. 3rd January 1973: Final stage of peace talks began that would lead to the singing of a Vietnam cease fire on 27 Jan. 23 Jan 1973: President Nixon announced an agreement to end war and bring peace with honor in Vietnam and South-East Asia. 30 April 1975: War end with the Fall of Saigon.
