In summary Deciding whether an item meets the criteria Is not a question of a simple formula It is a question of in-depth technical assessment This is the responsibility of Delegations in the Experts Group Wassenaar Arrangement
The Lists Review National Proposals submitted prior to a deadline in February First Round of the EG in spring June intersessional work Concluding Round of the EG in autumn Changes to the Lists agreed at EG level are submitted for approval to the December Plenary
Final Thoughts The WA Control Lists have been developed over 20 years • Each entry, justified against the criteria for their selection, is the result of intensive work conducted by delegations; • They continue to be updated each year by the Experts Group in accordance with a procedure approved by the Plenary and which is intended to ensure the maximal effectiveness in this process; • The process seeks to balance security concerns with the free flow of legitimate international trade.
