The erosion in Turkey is 8 times more than Europe. Turkey loses about 1.1-1.4 billion tons of soil every year. About 500-550 million of this lost soil is part of the cultivated land.
Two thirds (2/3) of our world is covered by water. But unfortunately only 0.3 percent of this water is usable and drinkable.
In the last 40 years, we have lost fresh water as much as the Sea of Marmara.
Because of the high population and sea pollution, fishing has become a big problem in the Black Sea. This fact not only occurred in our country, but also in all other neighborhood countries of Black Sea.
Turkey has around 21.2 million hectares of forested area, but almost half of it is situated in zones with a high risk of fire. • We have lost about 8% of our forests since the year 1937.
We had one of the biggest forest fire of our history in a very close time. • In the forest fire in Antalya we have lost about 4000 hectars of forested area.
Ever since we- humans- have been on Earth, we believed that the Earth gave us an unlimited amount of Natural resources. But regrettably, we are losing all our natural resources in a very fast pace. We should collaborate and show the best efforts to prevent this from happening.
