Introduction to Parks: • What are Parks?? • Piece of land in natural or semi-natural state • Set aside for human recreation and enjoyment • It may consist of rocks, soil, water, flowers and grass areas. • In General: • An area of land set aside for public use, where they can enjoy beauty of Nature, Picnic Parties & for some physical activities etc.
Types of parks: • Amusement parks: Joyland, Lahore. • Public Recreation parks: Bagh-e-Jinnah, Lahore. • National parks: Margalla Hills, Rawalpindi. • Botanical gardens: Botanic Garden of GCU, Lahore.
Why we Need Parks?? • Mental Relaxation • Healthy Environment • Recreation & Enjoyment • Physical Activities • Strengthening Community
My Favorite Park • Bagh-e-JinnahKnown as Lawrence Garden.
History • Originally built as botanical garden, modeled on Kew Gardens in England. • Named after John Lawrence, Viceroy of India from 1864 to 1869. • Present name: Bagh-e-Jinnah • Earlier area: 176 acres. • Present area: 141 acres.

Open Air Theatre • The principal of Lahore’s Government College, Mr. Sondhi, contributed to the creation of an open air theatre where performances by the College dramatic society were often held. • Sadequainused this place for a few years in the 1970s, in order to paint some of his great works. • For decades, it has been the venue for the All Pakistan Music Conference, held in the spring air and the early winter.
Summing Up • The park has managed to maintain its dream-like beauty for a century and a half. • It is a pleasant and peaceful park, perfect for a leisurely walk or a picnic. • It is a popular place with families to enjoy.
