  1. Smoke free rock quest has been alive for 23 years. Rock quest first started in 1989, it was Christchurch's very radio station C93FM who had formed the idea and made it a local event. And the year after two school teachers Pete Rainey and Glenn common promoted rock quest and then the rock quest then went on to be a national event with five regional finals and a national final. • For those of you who have noticed that I had been saying rock quest instead of smoke free rock quest I shall explain why? When rock quest first started it’s original name was “rock quest” until the name changed to smoke free rock quest in 1991 because smoke free became a major sponsor. So they changed the name to smoke free rock quest. And now the people that promoted rock quest into a national event are now running rock quest promotions full time out of nelson. • Smoke free rock quest is the biggest and most influential nation-wide youth music event hosted by new Zealand. Smoke free rock quest still manages to reaching audience numbers in excess 100,00 thousand a year.
