  6. MANDATORY ADVISING Conducted during the week prior to start of registration for continuing students Assignment to faculty advisor in major department (check with department office) Registration is on “hold” without advisor’s approval of course selection

  7. ADVISING CHECKLIST Review prior and current semester progress (GPAs) Any current or prior academic actions (probation or suspension)? Check pre-requisites and co-requisites Review course load (60-hr rule) Note checksheet discrepancies on advising form Note course substitution requests on advising form Sign form/student retains copy

  9. ACADEMIC ACTIONS DEAN’S LIST Spring or Fall GPA >= 3.5 with a minimum of registered 12 credits (no I, W, F or NC)

  10. ACADEMIC ACTIONS THOSE TO AVOID: Probation Suspension Dismissal

  11. GPA REQUIREMENTS FOR GRADUATION Minimum of 2.00 for all registered credits at UH Manoa Minimum 2.00 for all upper division courses (numbered 300-499) in mathematics, sciences, and engineering

  12. ACADEMIC ACTIONS PROBATION Any semester in which cumulativeorupper division GPA < 2.0 Students on probation must also achieve a minimum current GPA of 2.0

  13. ACADEMIC ACTIONS SUSPENSION Failure to meet terms of probation or GPA < 1.7 after attempting 24 credit hours Must apply to return (Office of Admissions and Records) Suspended students who attend another institution classified as “transfer” students upon reapplication to UH Manoa

  14. ACADEMIC ACTIONS DISMISSAL Failure to meet academic requirements after returning from suspension Not eligible for readmission to UH Manoa for one academic year Readmission only under unusual circumstances
