  4. Dickens's career as a writer of fiction started in 1833 He published ~ a dozen major novels, a large number of short stories, a handful of plays, and several non-fiction books. Nonfiction, poetry (verse) and plays some examples: A Child's History of England (1853) The Frozen Deep (play, 1857) Speeches, Letters and Sayings (1870) Pictures from Italy — illustrations Pictures from Italyis a travelogue, written in 1846. The book reveals the concerns of author.
