Agenda • Disegno magnetico 2D..
Richieste da FAIR Floch: Dear all,we would like to use the dipole that INFN is developpíng in our future string tests. For this, the dipole needs: - a cold diode stack - quench heaters - 3 pairs of bus bars (one for the dipoles, one for focusinng quad and one for defucusing quad) - one HV feed through withtanding a pin to ground voltage of 3 kV

The recooler tube (containing the two phase helium) would be made of OFHC copper or some high thermal conductivity aluminum. Hence, any magnetic field inside this recooler tube region will result in eddy current losses inside the recooler tube. Do you have any calculations of the magnetic field inside this recooler tube region for different hole sizes ? If not, could you send us some realistic ANSYS model so that we could do the calculations ? Regards, Juris

I understand from Yu Xiang that you are presently using 60mm holes in the yoke for this purpose (one for the flow, the other for symmetry reasons). According to our calculations, that is too small if the recooler is to be effective enough. A hole size of at least 72 mm is required. Regards, Juris

It is not so easy. In deed it looks as if 60 mm hole diameter are not enough. However, if 72 mm is the correct value - we will tell you asap. best regards Gebhard
