7. Walking burns lots of calories 50 pounds and counting….
12. IS is about clock-makers It works well when I’m absent
13. A sabbatical benefited me • Renewal - it's not leave • Research • Relationship building - professors, students, corporate guests • Dialog - academic and outside sector • Writing • Learning - auditing classes • Credential/brand building • Business case approach - Jim Collins was off the mark, we can learn from businesses about the path to greatness • Give-back – What it’s all about
14. And a sabbatical benefits Save the Children • Includes most of the prior slide • Knowledge sharing – this is the first of a dozen brown-bags • Publication of non-profit-related papers – this will enhance Save’s standing among business leaders and corporations who participate in the Dartmouth Center for Digital Strategies • Attract and Retain technology talent – the Fellowship will enhance our ability to attract and retain high-level knowledge workers and interns for IT and beyond for Save in the future. • Ivy League Connections – Adding Dartmouth to Harvard, Columbia, etc. ties. • Fundraising connections – corporate and individual connections • Gratitude – never underestimate the value of a grateful employee
p.s.
