  5. What is a Commercial Part? Part 1 defines an Aeronautical Product Accepted Aeronautical Product characteristics: DESIGN : to acceptable Standards MANUFACTURE : by approved quality system MAINTENANCE : under approved system Commercial Part not specifically defined under CAANZ rules Definitions

Commercial Part Categorisation Distinguish: Non-Essential Equipment Not required for Airworthiness Includes Role Equipment Little or no integration with aircraft (e.g. retention/power) Substantiate on a No-hazards basis Essential Equipment Airworthiness depends upon it Performance Aspects are related to aircraft safety Perhaps integrated with aircraft systems Definitions
