Describe a healthy meal in terms of My Plate • MyPlate recommends a healthy balanced diet based on proportioning fruits and vegetables, grains, proteins, and diary with in each meal • Energy – Food is measured in calories • 3 factors that affect your energy needs – (energy = food) • Age • Sex • Level physical activity
Homework • Read pages 128 & 129 • Define the word diet in terms of science • create a daily menu of what you eat normally – list what you eat for breakfast, lunch & dinner – then go to MyPyramid.gov to see if you are eating a balanced diet
