PARTS OF THE EYE • There are different parts in the eye: Cornea: The front part of sclerotic is transparent to light and is termed as cornea. Iris: Iris is just at the back of cornea. Eye Lens: Eye lens is a double convex lens. Pupil: At the centre of the iris there is a hole through which light falls on the lens Retina : Retina serves the purpose of a screen in the eye.
HOW THE EYE WORKS • Your eyes are at work from the moment you wake up to the moment you close them to go to sleep. They take in tons of information about the world around you shapes, colors, movements, and more. Then they send the information to your brain for processing so the brain knows what's going on outside of your body.
CHARACTERISTICS • The human eye is an optical system consisting of a sphericaldiopter lens, which receive respectively the name of the cornea and lens, and are capable of forming an image of objects on the surface of the eye, in an area called the retina , which is sensitive to light.
FUNCTION OF THE EYE • When light enters the eye, it passes through the cornea (camera lens) where 2/3 of focus is achieved. The light then passes through the pupil where the iris (aperture) adjusts the amount of light that is allowed to enter. The remaining 1/3 of focus is then achieved when the light passes through the lens (camera lens). • The shape of the lens can adjust (either thinner or thicker) by tensing or relaxing the muscles of the eye. The focused light finally reaches the retina (film) where it is converted by the rods and cones into a signal that can travel to the brain (film development). Once the image reaches the brain, you have sight.
