To begin using Waypoint to evaluate students, you need a Waypoint Assignment.
A Waypoint Assignment is a traditional rubric with some additional options and features.
Difference? • Waypoint Assignment is a rubric with options: • Checklist Elements • An Assignment description/prompt • Element (criteria) weighting • Elements (criteria) mapped to standards • Advice text • Reference text • Used for peer review, self-assessment, and surveys • Linked to a Blackboard Assignment for gradebook connectivity
Best ways to get an Assignment: • Receive as a gift (via Email or Teams) • Copy from the Public/Institution library • Import from RubiStar • Make your own from scratch
To Evaluate a Student… • Build , copy or receive a Waypoint Assignment • Use the Assignment to Evaluate the Student let’s look at Evaluate first
Click an Observation that most closely matches the student’s work
Add Overall Comments (optional) Add a Grade(optional)

Step 1: ‘Go to Waypoint’ Log into a Blackboard Course for which you are an instructor Click Course Tools Click Go To Waypoint
Step 2: Synchronize your Roster • Click Synch Student Roster • (top of page, second row of menu in the middle) • Select the classes (list is from Bb) that you will Evaluate • Uncheck “Create a reviewer record…” • Click Continue
